Room Service: Stars, Snake Print and Stunning Art
Today Room Service captures two of the Mondrian South Beach hotel’s coolest features: a floating stairwell and a giant image of a doe-eyed doll in the lobby. Marcel Wanders is the the genius behind the design of this uber chic hotel that meshes art and functionality so beautifully. I love traveling and I tend to be one of those people who misses their bed when staying at a hotel, but the Mondrian South Beach isn’t one of those spots. I just feel so right at home here. It’s not pretentious or overly glam. In fact, while it’s absolutely gorgeous in design, there is something very welcoming and cozy about it. So what do you think of my outfit? I was trying to go for a fun resort wear look with fringe to mix with this amazing snakeprint skirt.

Miami Fashion Bloggers Launch Boutique
I love writing about local designers who are doing amazing things in Miami and this blog post is especially special because it’s about my girls: The GoodWill Project duo: Eugenia Alliegro & Simonett Pereira. They finally launched their online shop for their Fake Frivolity brand which they introduced early in the year. Their first collection features uber cool denim cutoffs which are perfect for this sweltering Miami heat. We all know looking fashionable in 90 degree whether isn’t easy, but slip into a pair of these shorts and voila. The Venezuelan BFFs made the DIY jeans which average about $60 a pair. They scooped up the denim on shopping trips to vintage and thrift stores and of course their go-to-spot GoodWill. Later, they reworked them by snipping, adding embellishments like studs and fabric. So yes, they are one-of-a-kind, but the girls are willing to custom make you a pair too. Check out: www.FakeFrivolity.com

My Miami Street Fashion Shoot with Ann Taylor

This shoot was one of my most special ones because I got to collaborate with a brand that has been very close to my heart since I was a little girl and here’s why:
Growing up one of the stores my mother always shopped at was Ann Taylor. I remember being as young as 5-years-old going with her. I’d watch her gushing over the detailing on the clothes and the craftmanship. If the price was too much, she’d convince herself it was worth it. “It’s the type of clothes that will last you forever,” she’d say while modeling for herself in the fitting room mirror. My mother was born beautiful, but this clothes somehow transformed her into a sophisticated and elegant starlet instead of a young mom with four young kids running around. In high school, Ann Taylor was my go to spot for special occasions. Every single piece I kept, today is in mint condition and fetches compliments when I don it. My mother still shops at Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft loyally (like every other week, but shh don’t tell my father). I, however, grew out of it over the years in search of more trendier items until a few weeks ago when I put together an NBC segment on Spring and Summer fashions and saw that the store did cater to my style. There were so many pieces I fell in love withfrom harem pants to neon baubles to cute clutches with hints of bold hues to drool worthy frocks and tops. The manager Rachel at Dadeland and her staff are awesome and helped me pick out the items. After all these years, Ann Taylor still manages to make feel a bit more posh and lady like while letting my personality peek out.

WHAT I WORE: Ann Taylor harem pants, belt and all jewelry ( courtesy of Ann Taylor), Issac Mizhari purse, 1960s vintage blouse made from lace brought from Cuba & designed by my beautiful grandmother Abuela Yuya’s cousin Titi, Steve Madden purple pumps.
A special thanks to Diana Peron, Andrew Taylor, Allison Brady, the Dadeland store staff and my amazing friend Karla Garcia for her beautiful photographs once again.

This Wednesday Neiman Marcus Last Call stores across the nation will have women getting late to work. The department store’s outlet shop is having a major sale starting at 9 a.m. where you can score couture labels up to 55 percent off. Fashion Bloggers Do It Better, We Sure Do!

Photo by Ria Michelle (RiaMichelle.com) and Hair & Make up by Holly Gowers (HollyGowers.com)
Walking outside of mine and the GoodWill Project girls Fashion Bloggers Do It Better event, Ria snapped this candid photo right after Holly had done my hair & make up. I had no idea she had snapped it while I was in full stride scurrying around making final adjustments. I love the light and the fact she snapped a photo of me being me. Overall, the event was a success everyone from attendees to merchants to our sponsors told us they loved it and all we keep hearing is when is the next event. The next event will be announced very soon so stay tuned. Me and The Goodwill Project girls are planning something twice as big and better.

Khloe Kardashian’s Under $100 Fave Jeans Come to Miami Boutique

What denim do the Kardashian sisters wear that always makes them look so amazing? Well, the curvaceous Khloe is a fan of under $100 brand Standards and Practices. You see! You don’t have to fork over tons of money to look great. Miami’s Coral Gables boutique Emporium just got them in and from the looks of it, they maybe a hot seller. I just love how Khloe is rocking them with thigh high Christian Louboutins. Any Miami Cuban girls like myself excited to try these out? I know I am.

Miami’s Fashion Conflict: Meet Carolina Herrera or Brad Goreski Thursday

Miami is known for having countless conflicting fashion events running simultaneously on the same day. And for some reason, it’s usually a Thursday. This week, fashion denizens will have to choose between meeting Carolina Herrera who will be at the grand opening of the CH Carolina Herrera Boutique in Bal Harbour Shops or Rachel Zoe’s Former assistant and Bravo TV star Brad Goreski who be at Books & Books on Miami Beach’s Lincoln Road promoting his book, Born to Be Brad My Life and Style, So Far ($24.99). Both events kicks off at 7 p.m. which makes it quite impossible to leave one and race to the other. But, I’m gonna try to wing it regardless. I’ll be at Carolina Herrera first and then work my way back down south. I’ve covered her shows at New York Fashion Week, but haven’t had the chance to interview her & it’s a must. Hopefully, Goreski will wait for me.

Jason Wu for Target in Miami

When it comes to shopping I prefer to do it online, but at 5a.m. Jason Wu for Target was sold out in my size and I had no choice, but to brave the crowd at my local Dadeland Target. At 7:45 a.m. the line as you can see in the picture had about 50 plus fans. As soon, as the doors opened in we went stampede style. I actually ran and grabbed everything I could in my size amidst the pushing and shoving. I made out with three dresses, three tops and a pleated baby blue striped skirt. Let’s hope the upcoming Marni collab isn’t as crazy as this.
One of the things I love most about Fall is being able to wear boots 24-7. Yeah, I know it doesn’t get cold in Miami, but so what? It’s all about making a fashion statement. Right now, I have my eye on these fringe boots called Badgess. I’m loving both colors above & having a hard time deciding on a hue. Which ones do you like more? The boots are $199 and are from Steve Madden.
