Your Fashion Guide to Art Basel in Miami 2011

Art Basel 2011 kicks off tomorrow in Miami with various “invite only” fashion events. Yet, don’t dismay there’s plenty of open events all week to attend like pop up shops by Christian Dior and Mara Hoffman to catwalk shows for Eco Fashion Week  to the party launch of Miami’s Refinery29. Let’s not forget the ultimate retreat: the Vogue Lounge which is back again, but this time at the Sagamore. 

 Here’s my Fashion Guide to everything fashionable that is open to the public.

Bally
When: Wed, Nov. 30 - Wed, Dec. 14, all day

The Swiss brand launches BallyLove #2 collection, a capsule collection with artist Olaf Breuning. The collection includes a women’s ballerina, a men’s loafer, totes, handbags, a messenger bag, scarves and other small leather accessories. The actual collection will be in stores April 2012.

Christian Dior
When: Wed, Nov. 28 - Mon, Jan. 9
Where: 191 NE 40th St., Unit 101, Design District
The couture brand is a collaborating with German artist and sculptor Anselm Reyle to host a Dior x Anselm Reyle pop shop. Attendees can shop eclectic bags, wallets, jewelry, sunglasses, scarves, footwear, as well as beauty products like nail polishes and eye palettes.

Eco Fashion Week
When: Mon, Nov. 28 - Sat, Dec. 3
Where: LMNT, Albion Hotel, Adrienne Arsht Center
After launching last year during Art Basel, the fashion fete returns bigger with four
runway shows and exhibits daily. All catwalk presentations feature eco friendly garbs. Find established designers at Thursday’s show called Material Change which is sponsored by Swarovski to student work with Up-Cycled on Friday where DASH students show us their take on classic garbs. www.ecoartfashionweek.com

Imperial Nails
When: Sat, Dec. 3 - Sun, Dec. 4, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: The Standard Hotel, 40 Island Ave., Miami Beach
Become part of a social sculpture by getting a manicure. Chicago artist Dzine will be making beauty parlor history with an art project called Imperial Nails which celebrates custom nail designs. The event is sponsored by Perrier and will have manicurists set up shop within the installation. To book an appointment email: dzine@standardhotel.com.

ISA boutique
When: Thur, Dec. 1 - Sun, Dec. 4, 10a.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: ISA boutique 3400 N. Miami Ave.; 786-558-8027
The Midtown shop will host a four day shopping party showcasing art work by featured artists Carmen Sotolongo, Kelley and Tere Kelley. Guests can sip on prosecco courtesy of Cupcake Vineyards, nibble on small bites and enjoy music by rotating DJ’s each day until 10 p.m. every night. Plus, attendees can save on a Ramona La Rue sample sale and 20 percent off selected jewelry.

Lisa Perry Lichtenstein Dresses
When: Mon, Nov 28 - Sun, Dec 4, 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. (Sunday-Wed) 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. (Thurs - Sat)
Where: Gift Shop at W South Beach; 2201 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
Pop-art inspired designer Lisa Perry will be showcasing and selling her limited edition Lichtenstein dresses at The W South Beach for the duration of the fair for $2,000. The frocks feature three of the artist’s most iconic works: Spray, 1962; No Thank You, 1964 and On, 1962. The collection is limited to 99 dresses.

Mara Hoffman
When: Thur, Dec. 1 - Sun, Dec. 4, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Mondrian, 1100 West Ave., Miami Beach, 305-514-1500; Everyday except for Friday where it will be at PULSE Contemporary Art Fair at The Ice Palace, 1400 N. Miami Ave.
The Boho chic designer will have her first ever pop-up shop at Art Basel which will be inside a vintage 1964 Airstream Trade Wind as well as a 9-foot traditional Tipi constructed from one of Hoffman’s prints, creating a mobile retail shop/installation. Find a special selection from her newest collection of Resort 2012 Swimwear for purchase. Plus, limited edition swimwear created by Hoffman and a few select artists will be on sale. There will be a limited run of 15 of each item. Each piece will be numbered and signed by the artist, with only 30 pieces being produced for each group, in addition to an artist’s proof. These pieces will be sold exclusively during Art Basel.

MAD initaly and Vhernier
When: Wed, Nov. 30 - Sat, Dec. 3,11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: MAD initaly Showroom, 4 NE 39th St., Miami
The duo have paired up to showcase their latest collections at MAD initaly’s showroom. Find hand-made jewelry inspired from 15th century geometrics to modern avant-garde designs.

Maison Martin Margiela
When: Tues, Nov. 29 - Sat, Dec. 3,11 a.m to 7 p.m.
Where: 4141 NE 2nd Ave., Miami
The high end boutique will have an off-site exhibition called Love. It will feature the Maison’s Line 13, dedicated to objects and publications, and will also explore the Maison’s relationship with interiors.

Marco Glaviano
When: Wed, Nov. 30, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: NEST CASA, 1020 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach.
The world renowned photographer is credited with being an instrumental force in developing the supermodel phenomenon. Glaviano will showcase his work in an exhibit called “Jazz & Models” from Milan to Miami Beach. See photographers of Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigová, Paulina Porizkova, Stephanie Seymour and more.

Refinery29
When: Thur, Dec. 1 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Where: Cafeina Wynwood Lounge, 297 NW 23rd St., Miami.
The fashion site launches its Miami edition. Kristian Laliberte, Piera Gelardi, DJ May Kwok, Justin Belmont and Matthew Chevallard host. Plus, a Refinery-flavored photo booth, beauty applications by Violent Lips, temporary lip tattoos and fashion photography by GUESS?

Vogue Lounge
When: Thur, Dec. 1 - Fri, Dec. 2, Noon to 7 p.m.
Where: Sagamore Hotel, 1671 Collins Ave., Miami Beach.
A two-day, VIP shopping experience, the Vogue Lounge includes fashion by some of the world’s most reputable brands including, Keds at Opening Ceremony, Bond No. 9, Lexus, and more.
